Integrate with Prometheus

Legacy scopes

This page covers legacy scopes. They remain supported for existing workloads, but for new implementations use agent-backed scopes instead.

note

This integration guide is applicable only to AWS instances.

This guide outlines the process of integrating Prometheus with nullplatform to store performance and Application Performance Monitoring (APM) metrics. By selecting prometheus as the designated provider for performance metrics, each instance will automatically set up a Prometheus exporter during runtime, accessible via the default port 2021.

Modifying Prometheus Exporter Port

To adjust the port used by the Prometheus exporter, edit the nrn key aws.prometheusExporterPort.

Comprehensive Metric Collection

In addition to the standard instance metrics, a wide range of metrics prefixed with np_ will be transmitted. These metrics offer insights into various aspects of system data and HTTP traffic details.

Default Metric Tags

Every metric will come equipped with default tags, enhancing the contextualization of the collected data. These tags include:

  • Account
  • Namespace
  • Application
  • Scope

Utilizing these tags provides valuable context for analyzing and interpreting the metrics.
